Research and Insights

EnergyPROSPECTS set out with the goal of shedding light on the various forms of energy citizenship and analyzing the conditions that foster active participation in energy systems. Through its comprehensive research, the project has identified nearly 600 initiatives, providing a rich analysis of these cases through an innovative, interactive open-access database, which is available online.

The project's findings are organized and presented in various formats to cater to different stakeholders:

  • Energy Citizenship Factsheets: These provide thematized insights drawn from detailed case data.
  • Country Profile Reports: Detailed reports from eight partner countries offer a deeper understanding of regional dynamics.
  • In-depth Case Studies: Forty select cases received further analysis, covering aspects such as development, evaluation, governance, and the role of ICT in energy systems.

Empowering Tools and Surveys

A notable output of EnergyPROSPECTS is the Empowerment Toolkit, designed to assist practitioners and citizens in navigating and influencing their energy environments. Moreover, the project successfully conducted a comprehensive online survey involving 10,000 participants across 19 European countries, aiming to gauge public sentiment on the energy transition.

Future Directions and Continued Impact

Looking ahead, the EnergyPROSPECTS team is set to continue its scholarly contributions, including the forthcoming publication titled "Energy Citizenship Across Europe." This collection of essays will assess energy citizenship practices in eight European countries and is expected to serve as a valuable resource for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners alike.

Acknowledgments and Appreciation

The project's success would not have been possible without the robust support from various organizations, individuals, and especially the members of the Advisory Board and the EnergyPROSPECTS consortium. Their collaborative efforts have been instrumental in driving the project's achievements.
